Students will choose a leather cover (with fish leather attached) and learn how to make a hand stitched journal. Finished journal will consist of 72 pages comprised of six signatures of 12 pages each. Students will hand stitch the pages to the cover. Journal is roughly 5.5” x 7” and is perfect for drawing, sketching, recording dreams and goals or journaling.

Joe Manthei
Joe is co-owner of Fiskur Leather from Mora, MN. He has been working with fish leather since 2011. He has been making handbound journals since 2016. Some of the leather covers have his Lunker Leather attached. These fishskins are local fish that he has tanned. He has taught wallet-making classes in several folk schools as well as fishskin tanning both online and at various venues. He is a regular substitute teacher in the Mora school district.
