Tablet/Card Weaving, Part 1

Instructor: Christy Lickei

Tablet or card weaving is one of the oldest forms of weaving, as it dates back at least to the 8th century BCE in early Iron Age Europe. Learn the basics of this skill and how to find information to expand your skills in the future while making a decorative woven band.

Please note: this is the first half of a six-hour class spread across two days. Make sure you can attend both Saturday and Sunday sessions from 1 to 4pm.

Minimum number of students: 1

Maximum number: 10

Skill level: Beginner

Minimum age: 12

Notes: Students will need to bring a good scissors for paper. This weaving can be done on many different kinds of looms. If a student has an inkle loom they would like to use they may bring that. If not, we can improvise a back strap type loom.

I will provide the thread, cardboard, patterns, hand outs, and clips. If a student wants a tablet weaving loom like mine, I can make some before the class for $40 each, or I can list some online that students can purchase.

Registration includes $20 materials fee.
